Our History:
The Garden Club of McKeesport was founded in 1933. In 1938 the City of McKeesport gave the Club a 6-acre plot within the Park to create an Arboretum. Over the last 86 years The Garden Club of McKeesport has added a 400 ft. perennial garden, a rose garden containing over 1800 roses, a pond, an herb garden, and a butterfly garden.
Club Projects:
The Main Project of The Garden Club of McKeesport is the Arboretum and Rose Garden within Renziehausen Park in McKeesport, Pa.
We maintain a 2-story clubhouse where we have our meetings and other activities such as crafting of gifts for sale, workshops, provide luncheons upon request and tours of the garden.
Club Activities:
We meet the 3rd Monday of the month from March until December.
The Club sponsors a $1000 Scholarship for Students in the McKeesport Senior High School.
The Club begins its year in the garden in April with the pruning of the roses and continues our work throughout the garden until Mid-November. Every Wednesday is a workday and all members are expected to participate in some capacity.
We host four Teas on the second Thursday of the month during June, August, September and October and reservations are required. For more information please see the Tea section on the Contact Us page.
The Club will reserve time for a Wedding in the Garden or time for Photographic Sessions. The Club can also help with reservations for Social Gatherings such as Showers, and Adult Birthday Parties. Please see the Contact Us page for information.
We end our year by participating in McKeesport's Festival of Trees with our Holiday Sale at the clubhouse. We sell fresh greens, and swags crafted arrangements. We also have a bake sale and the
Kids Korner.
